Habitat

Sandy fresh and salt water beaches.

Associates

 

Distribution

 

Atlantic coast and Great Lakes region. Introduced to the Pacific coast.

Morphology

Annual to perennial, bushy, branching herb. Leaves succulent. Flowers small with 4 pale purple to white petals.

Notes

Flowers June to November

Wetland Indicator: Facultative Wetland.

Leaves edible, peppery.
