Taxonomy

Family: Euphorbiaceae

Habitat

Beaches and dunes near Lake Michigan. Most common on the foredunes facing the lake.

Associates

Consistently associates with Cakile edentula and Corispermum hyssopifolium.

Morphology

Plants glabrous. Most or all of the cauline leaves opposite or subopposite, entire, 7mm long or longer, linear oblong, abruptly rounded at base. Ovaries and capsules glabrous. Seeds with the faces smooth, mostly more than 1.8mm long.

Notes

Flowers early July to early November

Wetland indicator: Upland

Easily overlooked, often trampled.
