Habitat
Moist calcareous woods. Occasional in swamps or on dunes.
Associates
Distribution
Primarily a Midwestern species but also occurs in NY and CT and parts of eastern Canada.
Morphology
Smooth, climbing vine. Lower leaves variable; upper leaves perfoliate, green above, deltoid-ovate, as long or longer than wide, pointed at tip. Flowers yellow to reddish-purple; style hairy.
Notes
Flowers May and June.
Wetland indicator: FACU
This species seems to finish flowering just a little bit earlier than L. prolifera, which has blunt tips on the upper leaves.
