Taxonomy

Family: Primulaceae

Habitat

Marshes, bogs, edges of shaded stagnant pools.

Associates

In bogs with Chamaedaphne calyculata angustifolia, Drosera rotundifolia, Dulichium arundinaceum, Hypericum virginicum, Osmunda regalis spectabilis, Potentilla palustris, Toxicodendron vernix, Sarracenia purpurea.

Distribution

 

Morphology

Herbaceous perennial. Leaves opposite, clasping, linear-lanceolate. Flowers bright yellow, numerous in close racemes at the ends of axillary peduncles; flowers mostly 6-parted, the corolla lobes linear.

Notes

Flowers late May to Late June.

Wetland indicator: Obligate
