Habitat

Ponds and slow streams. Often in calcareous waters.

Morphology

Herbaceous aquatic. Leaves opposite, flaccid, entire or at least not conspicuously toothed, obtuse to merely acute, the larger ones more than 0.7 mm wide. The style with stigmas up to 0.6 mm long. Seeds pitted, often purple-tinged, to 2.5 mm long.

Flowers early to late September
