Morphology
Perennial from a scaly, bulbous base. Leaves all basal, trifoliate; leaflets obcordate, glabrous; petioles sometimes hairy. Flowers pedicellate in umbelliform clusters, on peduncles 10-20 cm long, greatly surpassing the leaves; flowers subtended by small bracts; petals rose-violet or sometimes white, 10-18 mm, not notched at the apex; sepals callous-tipped.
Notes
Flowers April to June.
Wetland indicator: Upland
Frequently blooms again in the Autumn. Seems to be rare throughout much of the eastern U.S.
