Wetland indicator: FACW

Similar to P. grandiflora but with the rostellum lobes rounded, directed downward and parallel. Where the two species occur together P. psycodes tends to begin flowering a few weeks later. Can hybridize with P. lacera (P. x andrewsii) in the northeasternmost part of its range where the two species bloom at the same time. May rarely hybridize with P. grandiflora.
