Synonymous with Gnaphalium macounii Greene

Habitat

Open places like shale barrens.

Associates

 

Distribution

Quebec to British Columbia, south to WV, TN, and Mexico.

Morphology

Fragrant annual or winter annual; stems to 1 m, glandular-hairy, often becoming woolly in the inflorescence; leaves decurrent at the base, woolly beneath, glandular-hairy above, the hairs shorter and sparser than those of the stem.

Notes

Flowers July to September

Wetland indicator: FACU

Similar to P. obtusifolium which has more woolly and less glandular stems and leaves that are not decurrent at the base.
